Submissions Guidelines

Submissions are open for fiction. We publish unsettling bad time stories that straddle the horror, fantasy, and science fiction spectrum. But genre is made up so if you have a dark weird horrible story that could be a fit, send it in and let us worry about it.

1. Email your stories as any kind of readable file to submissions@seizethepress.com. Don’t worry about a cover letter, story title and word count is all we really need.
   
2. Strict 10,000 word limit. Anything over 10,000 words will not be considered.
   
3. Payment for original fiction is 3 pence (GBP) per word.
   
4. We accept simultaneous submissions.
   
5. We do not accept multiple submissions. Please only send one at a time and wait for a response on your current submission before sending another.
   
6. We do not accept unsolicited reprints. Please also don’t send unsolicited art portfolios.
   
7. We aim to respond to every submission within 30 days. If you don’t hear back from us within that time feel free to query, but please wait the 30 day period before contacting us.
   
8. You don’t need to provide your address or legal name.

10. We are currently closed to non-fiction.
    
11. We do not publish poetry.
    
12. We publish insightful reviews of horrible weird unsettling grotesque fantasy and horror. Science fiction also welcome, but emphasis on the horrible weird unsettling and grotesque. Publishers contact our resident reviewer and critic Zachary Gillan at zjgillan@gmail.com for review queries. Physical review copies preferred.
    
13. We don’t want anything created using AI. Get that shit out of here.
